CLUB MANAGER

Job Description

SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced club manager to drive the highest levels of member satisfaction, operational success and profitability at Four Walls. Your role will be to use your leadership skills, financial acumen, analytical capability, knowledge of food and beverage operations and management expertise to oversee all aspects of the club’s operations to create a thriving and growing business. You will be required to showcase your leading, interpersonal, communication, and sales skills to drive a successful team known for delivering an exceptional member experience.

The Manager will have responsibility for delivering an excellent customer experience for club members and guests; developing and enforcing standard operating procedures for efficient operations; staff management, including hiring, training, and motivating staff to provide and maintain excellent customer-service standards; overseeing compliance with all health and safety regulations; excellent business management, including effective sales and marketing promotions, as well as regular forecasting, analysis, and financial reporting.



CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the efficient and profitable operation of the club
  • Manage the rostering and coordinating staff for shifts and special events.
  • Identify operational opportunities on an ongoing basis to build sales and control costs; develop and implement plans to address opportunities
  • Manage the operations and staff of all squash and fitness programs 
  • Build loyalty between clients and the club
  • Encourage feedback for improvement.
  • Manage and report on club finances to the board
  • Nurture relationships with vendors and distributors
  • Manage the relationship with the restaurant operator and coordinate day-to-day operations between the bar and restaurant 
  • Developing a strategic plan for improving the business.
  • Improving the club’s marketing strategy.
  • Develop a marketing strategy to promote and grow squash programs to the general public

ROUTINE TASKS & DUTIES:

  • Planning and managing daily operations, security and maintenance of all facilities.
  • Providing supervision and training to all new and existing staff.
  • Maintains optimal staffing levels within forecasted budgetary guidelines
  • Dealing promptly with all grievances from both staff, club members, bar and restaurant patrons.
  • Manages inventory efficiently, accurately, and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of holiday and special event programs for the member base (eg Moonlight Market, Sunday Brunch etc)
  • Ensures regular posting of activities and special event information.
  • Booking and overseeing entertainment and sporting activities.
  • Maintain data entry to the Client Relationship Management and Financial Management software.
  • Prepares annual budget and manages departmental costs, updating budget if operational forecasts change significantly
  • Oversees and ensures accuracy of all cashier functions

  • Schedules and coordinates monthly staff meetings
  • Maintaining up-to-date job descriptions and contracts for all regular contractors including the club’s own coaches
  • Attend board meetings.
  • Create Club policies, including for the bar and lounge
  • Maintaining safety and food quality standards
  • Coordinating daily front- and back-of-house restaurant operations
  • Appraising staff performance
  • Interacting with guests to get feedback on product quality and service levels
  • Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times
  • Other duties as may be prescribed

  • Good listening and communication skills and a flexible approach
  • Ability to create links/bonds with local businesses, distributors and sponsors
  • Passion and drive with a ‘hands-on, can do’ attitude
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills
  • Marketing skills, using digital and traditional marketing
  • High level of I.T. skills
  • Strong financial management skills and experience
  • Previous work experience in a sports club, racket-based in particular, is a plus
  • Sports enthusiast with an active lifestyle is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing a bar/restaurant
  • Excellent communication skills-oral and written
  • Strong leadership skills 
  • Proven ability to market club offerings to outside clientele
  • Accounting/ financial qualifications will be deemed an advantage
